
President Bola Tinubu has approved key new appointments to lead various River Basin Development Authorities under the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, as part of efforts to enhance water management and rural development in Nigeria.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s office confirmed the appointments on Friday in Abuja.
Among the notable changes, President Tinubu appointed Sowade Adebayo as the new Executive Director of Engineering Services at the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority in Abeokuta. Adebayo will succeed Engr. Julius Oloro in this critical role.
At the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority, Chucks Erhire takes over as the new Executive Director of Engineering Services, replacing Dr. Austin Nonyelim Izagbo.
Additionally, Sunday Hassan was appointed as the new Executive Director of Planning at the Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority, taking over from Chief Chris Tarka. Meanwhile, Engr. Okibe Timothy retains his position as the Executive Director of Engineering at the same authority.
President Tinubu urged all appointees to uphold the highest standards of integrity and performance, emphasizing their responsibility to improve water management and promote rural development across the country. These changes are seen as part of a broader effort to strengthen Nigeria’s water resources management and accelerate sustainable development.
