In a bold move, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has announced an unchanged lineup for Nigeria’s pivotal 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. Chelle, in his second match at the helm, is sticking with the same starting eleven that secured a 2-0 victory over Rwanda last Friday.
The focal point of the attack will once again be Victor Osimhen, who scored twice in the Rwanda game and is eager to continue his impressive run of form. Ademola Lookman, who also delivered a standout performance in the previous match, will join Osimhen in the frontline.
In defense, Stanley Nwabali retains his spot in goal, with Ola Aina, William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, and Bright Osayi-Samuel forming the solid backline. The midfield duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi will continue their partnership, while the pacey Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon provide width to the attack.
Here’s the confirmed Super Eagles Starting XI against Zimbabwe:
- Goalkeeper: Stanley Nwabali
- Defenders: Ola Aina, William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, Bright Osayi-Samuel
- Midfielders: Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi
- Forwards: Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman, Victor Osimhen
The match is set to kick off at 4pm, with the Super Eagles looking to build on their winning momentum and take another step closer to the 2026 World Cup.
