Victor Osimhen
Victor Osimhen was the star of the show on Wednesday, scoring a brilliant brace to lead Galatasaray to a 2-1 victory over Fenerbahce in the Turkish Cup, knocking José Mourinho’s team out of the competition.
The Nigerian striker wasted no time in making his mark, opening the scoring in the 10th minute with a clinical strike from the edge of the box. Osimhen then doubled his tally in the 27th minute, converting from the penalty spot to give Galatasaray a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime.
Fenerbahce managed to reduce the deficit just before the break, with Sebastian Szymański finding the back of the net in first-half stoppage time (45+1′). However, despite their best efforts to find an equalizer in the second half, including late substitutions by Mourinho, Galatasaray’s defense held firm.
With Fenerbahce unable to break through, Osimhen’s double ensured a memorable night for Galatasaray and sent Mourinho’s side packing from the Turkish Cup.
