The Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has strongly condemned the brutal killing of travellers from northern Nigeria in the Udune Efandion community of Uromi, Edo State, calling for urgent action to bring those responsible to justice.
Chairman of the forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, described the heinous attack as a flagrant violation of human rights, emphasizing that acts of extrajudicial violence are intolerable and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.
In a statement signed by Ismaila Misilli, the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Gombe Government House, Yahaya expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and all those impacted by this tragic event.
“We are deeply disturbed by the loss of innocent lives and the horrific nature of this attack,” Governor Yahaya said. “This barbaric act undermines the rule of law and threatens the very core of our society. It is crucial that the authorities conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation to ensure that those responsible are swiftly identified and brought to justice.”
Governor Yahaya stressed that all Nigerians, irrespective of their region, should have the right to travel safely without the fear of violence, intimidation, or harassment. He called on the government and law enforcement agencies to act decisively to prevent such tragedies from happening again, urging citizens to remain calm in the face of this senseless violence.
The NSGF’s firm stance signals a united call for justice and action to safeguard the lives of all Nigerians.
